INTRODUCTION

AWON kalimati clinic is a NGO providing a broad of range of general health care Services for poor Families. It was Originally established in 1959 by Dr. Bethel Fleming and her friends under America Woman of Nepal (AWON) as a non-profit social Service Organization (NOW clinic has been registered as a NGO Reg . No. 775/055/56 and working under Nepalese Board). The population served by the clinic is approximately 400,000 of west north part of Katmandu valley. The Clinic's primary focus is medical treatment, preventative health care and education for lower income families. The clinic also service the ex-patriots and Traveler's community though their excellent vaccination program.

On April 25, 1995U.S First Lady Mrs. Hillary Clinton visited Kalimati Clinic. Mrs. Clinton was enthusiastic about this small clinic and encouraged the clinic staff to expand the reproductive health services. Since than family planning and STD services have become a strong feature of the clinic's services.

OBJECTIVES OF AWON KALIMATI CLINIC:-

CLINIC IS ESTABLISHED as a non – profit social service organization with the motto " Modern Health services for Social Justice".

  1. Quality low cost curative health service
  2. Preventive health care in immunization, nutrition counseling sexuality and health education.
  3. Family planning counseling and temporary contraceptives services.
  4. Vaccination program offering full range of immunization for children, adults and travelers.
FUTURE GOALS:-
  • Provide 20-30 beds inpatient services for maternal and child care.
  • Develop the clinic as a self – sustainable organization with integrated health services (currently the clinic recovers 87% of its total and continues to provide low cost services)
